Heading: Collagen Injections
Chronic sun exposure, acne scars and aging can lead to fissuring or deep wrinkles and scars in the skin. Two ways to treat these areas is with collagen injections and Restylane® injections.

Collagen Injections
Collagen is a natural protein that provides structural support. It is found throughout the body - in skin, muscle, tendon and bone. In the skin, collagen provides texture, resiliency, and shape. Natural and synthetic collagens that are compatible with the patient's body tissues can be injected under the skin to elevate irregularities such as wrinkles, pits and scars.

Restylane® Injections
Restylane is a dermal filler made of crystal-clear gel called Non-Animal stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, or NAHSA. The gel adds volume and fullness to smooth facial wrinkles and folds. Upon injection the gel integrates into dermal tissue and attracts and binds to water molecules to help maintain volume. Over time, the gel is eliminated by the body, leaving no trace of the injected material.

The initial evaluation for collagen or Restylane® involves examination of the site and a test injection to determine if the patient is allergic to the product. Injections are usually given in a series of treatments. A local anesthetic minimizes discomfort from the injection needle. The effects of collagen or Restylane® injections may last for 3 to 12 months.
